Bonk dropped in late 2022 as Solana’s first dog-themed memecoin, launched by a group of Solana devs and community members who were tired of scams and bad vibes after the collapse of FTX. They air-dropped half the supply to the Solana community NFT holders, artists, and traders to kick off their launch. It blew up fast, becoming a kind of underdog mascot for Solana's comeback. Bonk has kept the momentum going by building out its own ecosystem, including BONKbot, a Telegram trading bot for meme coins, and BONK Arena, an arcade-style shooter game where players pay $Bonk to spawn and earn $Bonk for every elimination.
