Bitcoin was created in 2009 by the anonymous Satoshi Nakamoto as a response to the 2008 financial crisis. It was designed to be a decentralized digital currency that couldn’t be controlled by governments or banks. With a fixed maximum supply of 21 million coins and no middlemen, it gives people a new way to store value on their own terms.
